Your National Senior Certificate results are important. This allows you options to choose from at a university. Here are the results and pass universities require from students:

  • Bachelor’s Pass: Students will not be limited to studying with this pass. You will be able to study towards a degree provided you meet the other requirements of the major. 
  • Diploma Pass: You will be eligible for a university diploma. There are of course other requirements depending on the field of study you choose. 
  • Higher Certificate: Not many universities make provisions for students that passed matric with a higher certificate pass. However, some make provisions for students with this Matric result. 
Language Proficiency And Subject Requirements

The language and subject requirements are needed when you apply for entry into a university. Have a look at the individual requirements for a bachelor’s pass, diploma pass and higher certificate pass.

Here is the minimum pass requirement for a bachelor’s pass in matric:

  • 40% in your Home Language
  • 50% in four (4) higher credit subjects
  • 30% in two (2) other subjects
