In South Africa, colleges do not offer degree programmes. They offer other forms of post-school education, such as certificates, diplomas, advanced certificates and short courses. College programs usually have less strict academic entry requirements, which make them accessible to a larger number of students.
Some colleges offer a wide variety of programs covering a whole range of study fields, while other colleges offer courses in a specific field only. Examples of the latter include IT colleges, business colleges and wildlife management colleges.
College programs can be studied in preparation for a particular career, or to update your CV, or simply to increase your knowledge and to gain new skills.
